Metropolis Lighthouse “Hope Light”

The lighthouse is located at the west entrance to the city-owned Dorothy Miller Park in Metropolis, Illinois overlooking the Ohio River at the intersection of Front and East First Streets.
The lighthouse stands thirty feet tall as measured from the tower base to the top of the ventilator ball. It consists of a conical shaped, white reinforced steel tower topped with a teal daymark band and open lantern room with an LED white-light ML-155 Marine Lantern. White LED security down-lights are installed in the lower daymark band enclosure that lights up the tower from dusk to dawn. Total weight of the lighthouse is estimated to be 6 tons. The lighthouse is surrounded by a circular walkway consisting of concrete and personalized bricks. Handicap accessible concrete walkways connect the lighthouse to Dorothy Miller Park and to the adjacent parking area.
